Human remains may have been found in the wreckage of the Titan submarine recovered this Wednesday (28), according to the US Coast Guard. The five crew members were presumed dead after the submersible imploded in the Atlantic during a visit from Titanic.

The material found is sent for analysis to confirm if it belongs to the victims. Also on Wednesday, authorities unloaded Titan’s parts at a Canadian Coast Guard pier in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

The wreck will be forwarded to a US port where it will be tested by the Navy’s Board of Research. Experts will “perform a formal analysis of the suspected human remains, which have been carefully recovered from the rubble at the scene of the accident,” the Coast Guard statement said.
