A total of 13 automakers returned, including Ford and Volkswagen.

Last year, these manufacturers decided to pass due to low vehicle inventory.

In an interview with our journalist, Mr Godin assures that drivers at the Palais des congrès “have something for everyone”.

“The goal of a trade show is to ensure that people can choose their vehicle according to their needs, according to the expected price they can pay,” says the automotive columnist.

Where are the economic models?

For his part, automobile columnist Antoine Joubert observes that economical models are becoming increasingly rare.

“In the current market we need to be under $40,000. Today we can count on our fingers the number of vehicles that cost less than $30,000,” he says.

Still, Mr Joubert believes the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic remain safe bets among affordable cars.

“If I move to the upper class, we will see subcompact SUVs, for example: Subaru Crosstrek, Hyundai Kona, Toyota Corolla Cross with its hybrid version,” mentions the automotive columnist.

The Montreal Auto Show ends on Sunday, January 28th.
