San Francisco, USA, November 16 (Press Conference) China today believes that President Xi Jinping’s meeting with his American counterpart Joe Biden represents a new starting point to strengthen mutual trust and clear doubts.
At the end of the bilateral meeting here, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed that the meeting between the leaders made it possible to resolve differences and expand bilateral cooperation.
“We have always believed that China and the United States should and can find the right way to get along.” “This is a historical inevitability, the trend of the times and people’s expectations,” he stressed.
At a press conference, Wang stressed that it was an important meeting to bring stability and security to the turbulent and changing world.
The head of Chinese diplomacy recalled that both nations will celebrate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next year.
“Both sides must start anew from San Francisco and develop a new vision to further consolidate the foundation of bilateral relations, build a pillar of peaceful coexistence and strengthen relations to achieve solid, stable and sustainable development,” he added.
According to Chinese sources, the two leaders exchanged views on strategic and general issues crucial to the direction of Sino-American relations.
Biden said in a press conference after the talks, which were estimated to have lasted around four hours, that they had had a constructive and productive discussion.
An official statement said the two “addressed a variety of bilateral and global issues, including areas of possible cooperation, and exchanged views on the aspects that gave rise to differences.”
The text emphasized that the world expects both parties to manage competition responsibly to avoid new conflicts, confrontations or another Cold War.
Xi arrived in San Francisco last Tuesday to attend the 30th Leaders’ Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum at the invitation of the US President.
