Chef Paul Wahlberg explained he never thought Wahlburgers would be such a hit and said he’s only focused on the burger in front of him.
Grilling season is upon us, and to celebrate the burgeriest time of year, grocery delivery and takeaway platform DoorDash took a deep dive into burger grocery shopping trends.
The results were based on DoorDash data on grocery orders from May 2022 to March 2023.
In honor of today’s May 28th, National Burger Day, take a look at how condiments are performing on ketchup, mayonnaise and mustard in the infographic below.

“As summer approaches and consumers spend more time outdoors and less time running errands around the house, we’re seeing consumers want faster and easier ways to get their essentials delivered the same day,” said Fuad Hannon, Vice President for new industries at DoorDash.
“With summer grilling season upon us, we’re seeing some hot trends unfold as mayonnaise rises to ketchup as the burger condiment of choice as more consumers reach for healthier side dishes with their burgers.”
For example, vegetables and fruits are the most commonly purchased courses when individuals purchase burgers from grocers through DoorDash.

“With more than 100,000 non-restaurant stores on our platform across North America, consumers can find everything they need to prepare for grilling season,” added Hannon.
Here’s some more interesting tidbits from DoorDash’s report: Along with the ketchup, mayonnaise, and mustard trio, relish and ranch dressing rounded out the top five of their burger seasoning rankings.
While mustard is only the third most popular burger condiment, DoorDash calls it a “major player in the condiment space, particularly in the Southeast.”

And as far as cheese goes, cheddar is the dairy of choice for most Americans except in Philadelphia, where American cheese reigns supreme.
