According to his family, Bruce Willis has dementia

The family of American actor Bruce Willis, 67, star of Die Hard saga, Pulp Fiction and The Sixth Sense, among others, has reported that he has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. Almost a year ago, Willis retired from screens due to health problems, specifically aphasia, a disease that affects speech.

The actor’s wife, Emma Heming Willis, has posted a text on social media giving her followers an update on the actor’s health along with a photo of her husband on the beach. As he says, the doctors have now given him a deeper diagnosis of what he is experiencing. “Since we announced Bruce’s aphasia diagnosis in Spring 2022, Bruce’s health has deteriorated and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD),” he explained in the publication.

“Unfortunately, the communication difficulties are just a symptom of the illness Bruce is facing. While painful, it’s a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis,” his wife said in the publication, which was also shared by the actor’s ex-wife, Demi Moore. A link to additional medical information about the FTD appears at the end of the text and is signed: “Love and Grateful, Ladies of Willis/Moore.”

Willis became known in Spain in the early 1980s through the television series Luz de luna, together with actress Cybill Shepherd in the role of private detective David Addison. He also took part in blockbusters such as Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction (1994); Twelve Monkeys (1995), directed by Terry Gilliam; The Sixth Sense (1999) directed by M. Night Shyamalan and Moonrise Kingdom (2012) directed by another renowned director, Wes Anderson, sharing the lead role with Bill Murray or Edward Norton.

In 2015, he starred in the stage adaptation of Stephen King’s novel Misery, jumping onto the Broadway stage. The New York theater critics rated her performance very negatively, calling her “sluggish or empty”. Since then, his career has been focused on low-budget or B-series films, some productions are released directly in the domestic format. Many of the titles were crucified by critics, on other occasions his work simply went unnoticed with its enormous scope.
