According to Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Russia remains ready to conclude agreements on Ukraine under certain conditions. “Our position remains the same: we are ready to reach agreements as long as the current situation on the ground is taken into account,” Lavrov was quoted as saying by state news agency TASS in an interview published on Thursday. Furthermore, Russia’s security interests must be taken into account.
Among them was the need to “prevent the creation of a hostile Nazi regime near Russian borders.” According to TASS, Lavrov had already said that the longer Kiev delayed negotiations with Moscow, the more difficult a deal would become.
Before possible negotiations, Moscow insists, among other things, that Ukraine renounce its territories occupied by Russian troops. Ukraine resolutely rejects this.
