According to Matt Eberflus – NBC Sports Chicago, Chase Claypool will not be with the Bears this week

Chase Claypool will not play against the Commanders when the Bears travel to Washington this Thursday. Plus, he won’t even be at Halas Hall while the team prepares for the game.

Bears head coach Matt Eberflus said on “The Kap and J Hood Show” on ESPN 1000 that the ailing wide receiver will not be at the team’s facilities the week before Thursday Night Football.

Claypool was surprisingly inactive on Sunday when the Bears took on the Broncos. However, the surprises didn’t stop there. When it came time to play the game, it became clear that Claypool wasn’t even on the team at Soldier Field. Typically, inactive players hang out with their teammates on the sidelines, but Claypool was nowhere to be found. It turned out that the team had asked him to stay home.

After the game, Eberflus said he expected Claypool to be back with the team when they returned to Halas Hall. Apparently something changed overnight.

This appears to mark the end of Claypool’s time in Chicago. Earlier on Sunday, rumors surfaced that the team was buying Claypool. It’s unlikely that anyone would want to take a risk because they are considered unhappy on a bad team. Why bring in a man if he is at risk of self-destruction when faced with adversity?

The embattled wide receiver was once considered a key piece for the offense and had a phenomenal training camp this summer. But he was a jerk in the regular season and had questionable performances in Week 1. Claypool seemed to do better performance-wise in Weeks 2 and 3, but he still couldn’t find a way to make a big impact on offense.

Through the first three games of the season, Claypool had just four catches on 14 targets for 51 yards and one touchdown.
