Moscow-. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zajárova said today that her country’s authorities are prepared for a mixed stance from Kyiv during negotiations to resolve the bilateral conflict.
He reminded that the proposal to start talks came from the office of President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelenskyy and was accepted by Moscow.
“Then the circus started, as always, literally and figuratively, with the Kiev regime: first they come, then they don’t come, sometimes they go along with it, sometimes they don’t go along with it. Were they prepared for this in Moscow? Yes, of course,” Zajárova assured the TV channel Russia 24.
In his opinion, in recent years the approach to negotiations in Kyiv has been built in the same way. As an example, he cited the negative path taken since 2014 by the Minsk agreements aimed at ending the internal conflict in that country, which have not been implemented.
The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry pointed out that Moscow has already lost confidence in the Ukrainian negotiators, so the results of the talks will be checked on the spot.
The head of Russian diplomacy Sergey Lavrov has assured in recent days that, despite his change of position, the authorities of his country are in favor of maintaining dialogue with Ukraine.
“I see no reason why we cannot continue, even if the Ukrainian side takes turns, sometimes 180 degrees, rejecting, for example, what they themselves proposed a few days ago. But we are patient and persistent people,” he told national television.
He criticized that the latest peace deal proposals presented by Kyiv to Moscow were far from those delivered and agreed by both delegations at talks on March 29 in the Turkish city of Istanbul.
