“The American government’s decision to send depleted uranium ammunition to Kiev is a clear sign of inhumanity,” criticized the Moscow embassy on Telegram, pointing out the risks associated with the “moving radioactive clouds” emerging through the explosions of these weapons are caused.
This reaction follows the US announcement of $1 billion in aid to Ukraine intended to give “new impetus” to Kiev’s counteroffensive.
The purely military component worth 175 million US dollars provides in particular for the delivery of 120 mm ammunition with depleted uranium for American Abrams main battle tanks, as promised to Ukraine.
This ammunition, which can penetrate armor, is controversial because of the toxic risks it poses to soldiers and the public.
“The United States is intentionally transferring weapons with indiscriminate effects,” the Russian embassy further criticized.
According to her, “Washington refuses to accept the failure of the so-called counteroffensive of the Ukrainian armed forces” and is ready to “give up on future generations.”
