At least 10 people were killed and 60 were injured in a massive attack by Russia on several regions of Ukraine this Friday (29). Explosions were reported in the capital Kiev and other major cities such as Kharkiv and Lviv.
President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed that Russia fired 110 missiles into Ukraine. Targets bombed include maternity hospitals, schools, shopping centers and residential buildings.
“Unfortunately there were deaths and injuries as a result of the attacks. We will definitely respond to the terrorist attacks. And we will continue to fight for the security of our entire country,” Zelensky wrote on social media.
The mayor of Kiev reported that a subway station used as a shelter was damaged in a bomb attack, injuring five people.
22 Russian attacks were registered in Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine. According to local authorities, the bombings hit hospitals, residential buildings and industrial plants in the region. One person died and eight were injured in the city.
In addition, explosions were heard after a missile threat was announced in Lviv, in the west of the country. One person died and three were injured after a residential building was hit.
In Dnipro, southeastern Ukraine, a maternity hospital was hit by a Russian attack, according to Ukrainian media. Four people died and several were injured in the region.
Authorities said two people died and 15 were injured after rockets hit a residential area in Odessa, in the south of the country.
The Ukrainian Air Force said Russia used cruise, ballistic and hypersonic missiles, as well as drones, in Friday's attack.
The Energy Ministry reported that four regions of Ukraine were without power due to the attacks. The government also said Russia had targeted social infrastructure.
