According to The Athletic, he is the third-best goaltending prospect in the league

The Canadian wants to build a big team for the coming years. As you know, there are many questions that still need to be answered before we can aim for victory.

Who will complete the top 6 offensively? Who scores the goals?

Do the Canadiens have enough top prospects on defense to provide the pieces the blue line needs to be dominant? Who will go among all the hopefuls?

And what is Samuel Montembeault's ceiling in front of the net? Does Cayden Primeau have what it takes to be an NHL goalie on a great roster?

In short, you see the picture.

Jacob Fowler is also in front of the net and could change the game. He's still a few years away from establishing himself in the NHL, but let's just say he's been turning heads since he was drafted.

And on that topic, Scott Wheeler, who rates talent for The Athletic, mentioned that Fowler is his third-favorite goalie in the entire NHL.

Fowler is not in the Tier 1 category with Jesper Wallstedt (Wild) and Yaroslav Askarov (Predators, who could have been with the Canadian), but he completes the podium as the best goalkeeper in the second goalkeeper category.

And he is not there out of Christian charity.

Wheeler mentions that the goalkeeper has performed excellently for three years and is still one of the best talents in his position. His rookie season in Boston, in the NCAA, was also impressive.

And he obviously likes his technique.

He's the type of goalie that will stop the puck if he sees it and can move it. –Scott Wheeler

He also believes that even if the goaltender still has things to work on, he has a good chance of not only playing in the NHL, but also excelling. And “there aren’t many goalkeepers” for whom he can say that.

Obviously he still has some development left to do and we know that dominance in the NCAA doesn't always translate to success in the NHL… but let's just say in his case he's off to a good start.

That's all we can ask for right now.

Finally, note that seeing him in front of Spencer Knight, Devon Levi, Dustin Wolf, Sebastian Cossa and Trey Augustine, his partner on Team USA, says a lot about how he is viewed.
