Israeli attacks on Gaza continue on the third day of the war
At least three journalists have died since the conflict between Hamas and Israel began on Saturday (7), said the NGO Committee to Protect Journalists. One professional was injured and two others are missing.
All journalists affected came from Palestine.
“We are extremely concerned that three Palestinian journalists have been killed, two more reported missing and another injured in our coverage of the conflict between Israel and Gaza since it began on Saturday,” said Sherif Mansour, CPJ East Central Program Coordinator. and North Africa.
The journalists killed were:
- Ibrahim Mohammad Lafi, photographer for Ain Media, who was at the Erez border crossing in the Gaza Strip into Israel.
- Mohammad Jarghoun, a Smart Media reporter who was heading east to the southern Gaza town of Rafah.
- Mohammad ElSalhi, freelancer who was shot dead in the middle of the Gaza Strip.
AlGhad Channel correspondent Ibrahim Qanan was injured by shrapnel in the southern Gaza town of Khan Yunis. In addition, two Palestinian photographers, Nidal AlWahidi from the AlNajah channel and Haitham Abdelwahid from the Ain Media agency, have also been reported missing since Saturday.
“We call on all parties to remember that journalists are civilians and should not be targeted. “Accurate reporting is critical in times of crisis and the media plays a critical role in bringing news from Gaza and Israel to the world,” Mansour said.
