(CNN) – Potential Tropical Cyclone 22 is expected to become a tropical storm later this Friday, according to the National Hurricane Center’s 4 a.m. Miami time update.
The storm system is located approximately 415 km west-southwest of Kingston, Jamaica, with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h. It moves at 17 km/h.
A tropical storm warning is in effect for Jaimaica, Haiti, the Cuban provinces of Guantánamo, Santiago de Cuba, Holguin, and Las Tunas, the southeastern Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands.
The NHC reported that this system will bring heavy rainfall to parts of Panama, Costa Rica, Jamaica and Cuba through Monday. “The rains are likely to lead to flash floods and landslides on higher ground,” he added.
The storm is not currently expected to impact the United States.
