American filmmaker Christopher Nolan has been named the best director of the last 25 years by the site’s readers Rotten tomatoesin front of the Quebecer Denis Villeneuve.
Almost 30,000 Internet users voted in the final of this competition organized by the editorial team of Rotten Tomatoes, a famous review collection site that celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Christopher Nolan (Inception, Oppenheimer) received 56% of the vote, while Denis Villeneuve (Dune, Blade Runner 2049) received 44%.
To reach the final of the competition, Villeneuve had clearly won his previous five duels, against filmmakers such as Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (Babel, Birdman), Bong Joon-Ho (Parasite) and Damien Chazelle (La La Land). A total of 64 well-known directors from the last 25 years were at the start of the competition.
