Brazil: “The international community cannot stand still”
Speaking during the meeting, Brazil's Ambassador Tovar da Silva Nunes stressed that the data presented revealed a “humanitarian catastrophe and the impending collapse of the health system in Gaza.”
“We are seriously concerned about the loss of more than 17,000 lives and the disproportionate impact of the conflict on women and children,” he said. According to him, Brazil also regrets the more than 200 attacks on health facilities and teams, as well as the impact of the fighting on the operations of hospitals and other health facilities.
If nothing is done, untreated people will die in the coming days because they do not have access to basic health care and services.

According to the Brazilian government's assessment, the recent resumption of hostilities has made an already untenable situation worse. “Urgent action is needed to change the situation on the ground,” he said.
In his appeal, the ambassador called on all parties to the conflict to “ensure that civilians are protected and have timely, unhindered, sustainable and predictable access to medical assistance and health care, as well as humanitarian assistance.”
