On March 25, Donald Trump will become the first former US president to appear before a criminal trial. The previous tenant of the White House is to be sentenced a few months before the US presidential election for payments to suppress an alleged relationship with a porn actress.
Judge Juan Merchan of the New York court on Thursday, February 15, rejected Donald Trump's requests to cancel the proceedings, as requested by the Republican magnate who denounced “election interference” in November's presidential election.
In late March 2023, a New York court grand jury voted to criminally indict Donald Trump in this case for buying the silence of Stormy Daniels, a 2016 adult film actress. For several years, the judiciary has been trying to determine whether this payment of 130,000 dollars (around 121,000 euros) to the actress and director of porn films made the 76-year-old former Republican president guilty of making false statements, a trivial offense or a violation of election financing laws crime.
