San Jose, July 22 (Prensa Latina) The Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) today reactivated the Single Digital Health File (EDUS) mobile application, which was disabled for almost two months due to the cyber attack on this facility.
“The database consulted is the same source that existed before the May 31 cyberattack and the rules of use of the application are maintained: users must use the last password and the information is the same as before,” he says a press release from the CCSS , in charge of public health in Costa Rica.
In this way, the insured would have information about the appointments attended and the vaccinations they received before the computer attack that hit 90 percent of the CCSS servers and terminals.
Quoted by the digital news CRHoy.com, the director of the EDUS platform, Manuel Rodríguez, assured that the application can be used with confidence because the activation is safe for the phone.
He said what has happened over the past few weeks is that the application has been shut down as a precaution and is now being turned on for the benefit of patients with safety guarantees.
Since April 17, cybercriminals have attacked nearly 30 government entities, with the Treasury Department and the CCSS being the hardest hit.
After the cyberattack on the CCSS, the institution’s Executive President, Álvaro Ramos, confirmed that hackers have damaged access to the institution’s systems and that the impact is much greater than reported, since instead of 30 servers attacked, 800 were attacked and about nine thousand terminals or Devices.
However, Ramos claimed that the most critical systems could be preserved because there is a backup and all servers registered so far also have a backup, adding that lost information is controlled.
