Actor Johnny Ruffo dies at 35 after tough battle with brain cancer

Johnny Ruffo, known for his participation in the series “Home and Away”, died at the age of 35 due to complications from brain cancer.

The announcement of his death was made this Thursday, November 9, through a statement published on his Instagram account.

“It is with heavy hearts that we had to say goodbye to our beloved Johnny today. He left peacefully surrounded by his partner Tahnee and family, supported by some incredible nurses and doctors,” the post reads.

“He was a very talented, charming and sometimes cheeky boy. He was very determined and had a strong will. He fought until the end and as hard as he could. “Such a beautiful soul who still has so much to give,” they add.

“We all love you, Johnny, and we will remember you for bringing so much joy into our lives. “Rest,” it says at the end of the text.

Johnny Ruffo’s uphill battle with brain cancer

It was in 2017 when Johnny Ruffo was diagnosed with brain cancer, which is why he had to undergo surgery to remove the tumor, according to The Guardian.

In August of the same year, in his “feed” of the aforementioned social network, he published a series of photos in which the cut at the level of his forehead can be seen.

He also said: “I will begin aggressive treatment in the next few months to combat the diagnosis of brain cancer. Please stay positive for me.”

He completed his medical procedure on October 6, but noted that he still has “a long way to go,” which is why he remains “optimistic.”

That same month, but in 2019, the singer also finally announced that he was “very happy to have beaten this terrible disease.”

A year later, in November 2020, Ruffo announced that the cancer had returned.

“After an unexpected week of seizures and unbearable headaches, I am heartbroken to tell you that I now have another big battle ahead of me as my brain tumor has returned,” he wrote in a post.

“I’m going to dig deep and beat this fucking disease… again,” he said. A few days later, he began undergoing chemotherapy and radiation, which he continued until this year.

Last July, Johnny posted a snapshot of himself sitting in a special unit at the hospital. “Back to reality,” he noted in the description.
