(CNN) — Actor Jonathan Majors, who most recently starred in Creed III and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, was arrested Saturday morning in an alleged domestic dispute, New York City police said.

Majors, 33, was taken into custody after an 911 call from an apartment in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, according to a statement from the New York City Police Department.

“The victim informed the police that she was being assaulted,” the statement said. The 30-year-old suffered “minor head and neck injuries,” police said.

According to the New York City Police Department, Majors face charges of strangulation, assault and stalking.

Priya Chaudhry, a majors attorney, said the actor was “completely innocent” and “was likely the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows.”

“We are rapidly gathering evidence and presenting it to the district attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped shortly,” Chaudhry said in a statement Sunday.

That evidence would include two written statements from the woman withdrawing the allegations, the attorney said, as well as video footage of a vehicle in which the incident is said to have occurred and statements from the driver and other witnesses.

“All the evidence shows that Mr. Majors is completely innocent and did not attack her at all,” Chaudhry said.

Majors is no longer in police custody, the New York police said Saturday night.

In the wake of the allegations, the US Army announced it would be removing two recently released recruitment ads featuring majors and said in a statement it was “deeply concerned.”

“While Mr. Majors is innocent until proven guilty, caution dictates that we withdraw our charges until the investigation into these allegations is complete,” the statement from the Army’s Office of Business Marketing said.
