The likeable actor Pierre-Paul Alain has become more and more present on our small screen since his magnetic appearance in the film Arsenault & Fils in 2022. The one who began his career at the age of 9 is currently experiencing a rebirth on television. He was off the air for five years to take care of his family.
This fall we’ll obviously find him again in À Coeur Batter, where he plays Yoan Bilodeau, a man who struggles with violence issues and whose life path was marked by an attack that shook everything up for him. He plays there alongside Roy Dupuis.
But now we also find him in the second season of Criminal Case, a gripping anthology series presented on Noovo. You can also read our impressions of this new proposal here. On this occasion, say goodbye to messy curly hair and shaggy beards. He is a changed actor that we discover in a context completely different from the roles he has previously inherited.
“It’s my first time playing a detective, so I found it really interesting,” he explains straight away. “It’s Investigator Charbonneau, a field agent. He fits well into the team. He’s a guy who knows everything, he has a crazy memory. He is the one who looks for a lot of clues, who does a lot of research in the files, who finds the really important information. »
Let’s remember what the captivating plot of this second season consists of: The lives of two investigators in Montreal – Laurence (Alice Moreault) and Geneviève (Julie Le Breton) – are turned upside down after a botched police operation: Laurence shoots a witness to him had just made a major revelation about the disappearance of his father, a former investigator. The independent investigation agency is called in to find out whether the young policewoman committed murder or whether she acted in self-defense.
He adds: “The look is very clean, hair tied back, Michael Kors on his arm.” »

“I really enjoyed playing in this great group. My character is not the focus, he is not aggressive, he does not show off, but we see me from a different angle, a different cast,” explains the actor. “It’s really a character that I’ve been able to transform into, although I can’t say I haven’t changed from the other violent characters I’ve played before (laughs). »
Pierre-Paul Alain believes that his return actually took place in 2022 with the film Arsenault & Fils by Rafaël Ouellet. “The trailer came out and the phone started ringing. I really freaked out. I really gave it my all on this project, it was a defining moment for me. I hadn’t done anything for five years; there were many illnesses in my family. I’ve been through really difficult things. »
Since then we have seen him in series such as Hotel, Virage – Double Fault, Lou and Sophie, Bombs and others.
Whether playing troubled characters like in A Heart Beater or calming characters like in Bombs, Pierre-Paul Alain knows how to transform and deliver charismatic performances. We would certainly like to see him soon in a leading role that allows him to bring out all his nuances. This is an actor that we love to follow and that we look forward to rediscovering in A Criminal Affair.
The series is presented on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on Noovo and is also offered on the CRAVE platform.
