Anthony Starr, who plays Homelander in the Amazon superhero series The Boys, is said to have attacked a man while on the scene in Alicante, Spain. According to the Spanish newspaper El País, the actor got into a fight at the bar at 2 am on Wednesday and was later arrested. He spent the night in prison.
He is old in Alicante to shoot an action thriller for director Guy Ritchie, starring Jake Gyllenhaal.
The other man in the fight, a 21-year-old Venezuelan chef named Batuel Araujo, told police that Starr was “very drunk” and “pushing and pushing” others. It is said that words were exchanged between the two, and then blows, during which time Star allegedly hit Araujo with a glass, causing a cut above the Venezuelan’s eye, which later required four stitches.
Araujo, who told a local newspaper that he did not recognize the actor, said that after the initial fight, Starr said: “You do not know who you got involved with. You will not know who I am and what you have done. “
The two fought outside again before police arrived and arrested Starr.
Season 3 of The Boys is over, so Starr’s legal issues won’t affect this show for now. Amazon has not yet taken season 4 of the series.
Deadline has contacted Star’s representative and will update this story with each response.
