Adalberto Piotto criticizes after dismissal: “Someone has to be elegant TV

Jovem Pan promoted new cuts on Friday (15), dismissing Adalberto Piotto after almost eight months at the company. The journalist confirmed the termination of the contract on his social networks, stated that he was fine and criticized the broadcaster’s decision. “My dears, someone has to be elegant in this story. I insist that it should be me. Yes, I no longer work at Jovem Pan,” he wrote.

The presenter posted on Instagram and X, formerly Twitter. “I accepted the termination with composure and reciprocity. I’m fine and happy. Thank you for the affection of everyone who was with me,” he added.

Piotto was hired in January to lead a new debate program, Entrelinhas. The presenter also worked at TV Brasil, where he presented the economic scenario between 2016 and 2020.

Piotto has a long experience in radio and worked at Jovem Pan FM for just six months in 2014. At that time, he was a news anchor and commentator on social and political reality at Jornal da Manhã. He previously worked at CBN Radio and the SBT affiliate in Campinas (SP).

Adalberto Piotto was also the director, screenwriter and producer of the documentary “Pride of Being Brazilian” (2012), which describes itself as an “unprecedented, honest intellectual debate” about the search for patriotism.

After the federal government’s budget for broadcasting official advertising was drastically cut, Jovem Pan has made staff cuts. Names like Katiuscia Sotomayor, Tiago Pavinatto and Adriana Reid were fired, as were cameramen, reporters and social media staff. On the contrary, Rafael Colombo was hired this week.

The station has also become the target of an investigation by the Federal Ministry of Public Power (MPF), which is investigating the station’s behavior in light of the undemocratic acts of January 8 in Brasília. The panel is assessing whether the news channel spread false news or published offensive comments about the three powers, which further incited the coup plotters.
