Thursday night’s loss to the Bears dropped the Panthers to 1-8 this season, and veteran wide receiver Adam Thielen is starting to have enough.
Thielen said that on a night when the Panthers scored a punt return touchdown and their defense largely kept the Bears’ offense under control, the offense didn’t do its part in a 16-13 loss.
“We’re just not at full speed at the moment. We’re not hitting any cylinders,” Thielen said, via Darin Gantt of Panthers.com. “It’s an embarrassing effort. I think everyone is just embarrassed to score six points on offense. We did nothing. It’s embarrassing when the defense plays the way they play, especially the way they play. It’s embarrassing. And as mentioned, we are introducing best practices. We do the right things; It’s a way to build momentum, but it just doesn’t translate. That is hard.”
Thielen was the Panthers’ leading receiver with six catches, as he has been all season. He now has 68 catches and is at 128 catches in 17 games, which would be by far the most of his 10-year career. But he’s clearly not happy about being the top playmaker on a team that can’t do much on offense.
