Mexican actor Adan Canto, known for his characters in “X-Men” and the series “Designated Survivor” and “Narcos,” died on Monday at the age of 42 after a battle with cancer that he preferred to keep private led. , as the American medium Variety confirmed.
His most recent work was in the Fox series “The Cleaning Lady”, the American version based on the Argentinian “The Girl Who Cleans”, in which he played gangster Arman Morales.
The actor's reps at UTA, Entertainment360 and Viewpoint told Deadline that “Adan had a deep spirit that few truly knew. Those who saw him were forever changed. Many will miss him.”
Formed between two cultures
Canto is originally from the northern state of Coahuila and grew up between Mexican and American cultures.
“When I was little, I went to school in Texas and then came back to my town. It is very nice to have the privilege of understanding two cultures,” commented Canto in an interview with EFE in 2022.
Most of her career has been based in the United States and one of her most popular projects has been her role in Sunspot “X-Men Days of Future Past” (2014) or that of Desi in the film “Bruised” starring Halle Berry. 2020).
Although being a character in “X-Men” is too attractive, Canto considered his role in the series “The Following” (2013) to be one of the most captivating works of his life.
However, Canto never imagined that his path would lead to acting. His first big dream was to become a singer and composer, and to try his luck there he emigrated to Mexico City. “Being an actor was something that caught my attention, but I never thought it would be possible. I thought it was something people who inherited such positions did,” he admitted in an interview.
After his project as a singer was put on hold by problems beyond his control, he found the opportunity to act and since then he hasn't been able to let go.
