The stakes have been raised for AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door as the Jericho Appreciation Society and Blackpool Combat Club have added incentive to pick up the W in Chicago this Sunday.
It was announced on AEW “Rampage” that the winners of the trio match between Eddie Kingston, Wheeler Yuta and Shota Umino vs. Chris Jericho, Minoru Suzuki and Sammy Guevara will earn the one man advantage in the upcoming Blood & Guts game in the following week on AEW Dynamite. Since the Double Cage Match is played out like a WarGames match, a team gains a 2v1 advantage if their teammate jumps in during the first break.
Kingston and Jericho feuded for several months as the latter embraced his wizard side by first turning on Kingston and then blowing a fireball in his face. This eventually led to an Anarchy in the Arena match at Double or Nothing where the Jericho Appreciation Society claimed victory over Kingston, Santana, Ortiz and The Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson and Wheeler Yuta).
After that, it was hair to hair between Ortiz and Jericho, but “Le Champion” prevailed by nefarious means. The additional condition for the Trio Match colors the map slightly differently, as seen below:
