Addiction prevention reaches 39.7 million Mexicans

General Coordinator of Social Communications and Spokesman of the Presidency of the Republic, Jesús Ramírez, said at a meeting of the group that the talks on the “Together for Peace” strategy were the institutional response of the Mexican state and society as a whole to build peace and well-being, breaking the war on drugs paradigm, he explained

At the Los Pinos Cultural Complex, where the meeting took place, he highlighted the results of the strategy and the ability to unite the entities around a common goal:

“It's about building a new reality in which people with addiction problems due to lack of affection or loneliness know that there is a family, a school, a community that is aware that this problem is not individual, but everyone's problem .” and everyone,” Ramírez said.

The strategy was launched in 2019 as a platform for inter-agency coordination with the aim of influencing the biopsychosocial determinants that prevent and reduce the use of psychoactive substances among girls, boys and adolescents.

For her part, the Minister of Culture Alejandra Frausto spoke about the actions of the Community Culture program and the Creative Seedbeds, which are free artistic training groups with a community focus for children and young people in the country, where they participate in artistic life, critical thinking and their Positioning as cultural actors.

He mentioned that culture is a very powerful force for transformation; Artistic expression is not just a refuge, but a tool for developing freedom, imagination and recognition.

To date, he said, 443 Creative Seedbeds operate in Mexico in the most vulnerable and unequal places in the country; In them, participants are trained in various artistic disciplines and currently look after more than 15,000 girls, boys and young people who carry out various presentations in their community.

In turn, the Minister of Public Education, Leticia Ramírez, emphasized that bullying is a form of abuse that violates people's dignity and rights.

He stressed that schools must not be indifferent or tolerant towards these practices, but must promote healthy, democratic and peaceful coexistence and favor dialogue as the only way to resolve conflicts.

He added that the National Drug Prevention Strategy “Together for Peace” is an interagency effort of the Mexican government and a societal call to work together to address the challenges facing the country's communities and population.
