Admira remains unbeaten against LASK and is still lurking in the qualifying group a point behind Linzers – 1:1.
LASK has not yet managed to place its mark in the Bundesliga classification group. On Saturday, Linz had to settle for a 1-1 (1-0) draw with Admira and after four rounds is still only second in the lower play-offs, one point behind Ried. An early lead by Peter Michorl (6th) was not enough for a second victory in the qualifying group, Leonardo Lukacevic (46th) secured the equalizer at the start of a qualitatively better second half.
For Admira, the losing streak against LASK ended after ten games, and they are still undefeated in the classification group (1-3-0). Andreas Herzog’s eleven are now third in the table. Only one counter is still missing from LASK.
LASK made four changes compared to the recent 0:2 against Ried – especially the recently completely overwhelmed central defense was equipped with more routine this time around with Petar Filipovic and Philipp Wiesinger. Admira had to make changes, especially in the defensive midfield, instead of the duo Thomas Ebner (ill) / Lukas Malicsek (suspended), Roman Kerschbaum / Wilhelm Vorsager.
The aforementioned zone also offered LASK the opportunity to take the lead from the start. After a press ball, Sascha Horvath served Michorl’s free-kick, which ended in the penalty area with a complete, flat volley into the far corner. It was the climax of a dull first half, in which LASK visually dominated but found no real chance. Admira came into the game a little better with persistence, in the 26th minute Marlon Mustapha only missed one foul in the five. Even before that, his supposed equalizing goal had been denied for offside (20′).
LASK opened the second half with the second best chance so far and a failed volley by Alexander Schmidt at five (46′), but the home team scored: just a minute later, the neglected Lukacevic scored his debut goal. in BL after a quick game change from the penalty area to the long corner. The 1:1 had the effect of a small turbo on the southern townspeople, the game was at eye level from this point on and, thanks to the increased pace, it also managed to inspire more of the 1,450 spectators.
Both teams had their chances. Admira continued to look for Mustapha with balls in depth – who ran several times offside – and his teammate Jan Vodhanel took a long shot over the bar (60′). For LASK it was mainly an opportunity through the substitute Florian Flecker, whose shot from ten meters was too central and Leitner held it (68th). In the finish, Admira scored the winning goal on foot with a header from Joseph Ganda (87th) and a shot from Stefano Surdanovic (88th), but LASK goalkeeper Alexander Schlager was there.
