“What I’ve always been grateful for is that we don’t expect anything from each other, just friendship.”
Adwoa previously opened up about her insecurities in social situations, claiming that she felt “not white enough and not black enough” during her teenage years.
On the cover of Elle magazine, Adwoa confessed to the publication, “I would watch from the sidelines as certain friends thrive in social situations, all carefree and radiant as I quietly hid my insecurities and internalized my shame.”
“Like many others before and after me, I never felt like I belonged. I wasn’t white enough, nor was I black enough. Guys didn’t go for my braids, so I adapted – by painfully relaxing my hair, which didn’t convince them either.
