When she's not working, the actress and activist lives in a recently renovated Victorian home in West London, which was featured in the September issue of Architectural Digest.

She also stars in the Netflix series Top Boy, a gritty drama about two London drug dealers who ply their trade in an east London apartment complex.

In the hit Netflix series, Adwoa plays Becks, Jaq's love interest, played by Jasmine Jobson.

The pair were praised for their role in season four, in which their characters were attacked by a homophobic group of teenagers one night while on a date.

Top Boy fans praised the “powerful” ending to the latest series, which landed on Netflix last month.

The show originally aired on Channel 4 in 2011 before the broadcaster canceled it after two seasons.

Due to interest from Canadian rapper Drake, the show was revived by Netflix in 2018, with the rapper and his team serving as executive producers.

Set on the fictional Summerhouse estate in east London, Top Boy is a crime drama that takes an unflinching look at the harsh, dangerous world of the drug trade and the lives of those at the bottom.

Adwoa has been open about her alcohol and drug problems, previously saying she tried marijuana at the age of 14 before moving on to harder drugs.

Last year she revealed that while in a treatment facility for her drug addiction, she was pushed to “tear myself apart and put everything back together.”

The 30-year-old socialite and former Vogue cover star added that she is “lucky” to be sober and in treatment because it has forced her to confront herself and her addiction issues.

Speaking on the Reign With Josh Smith podcast for World Mental Health Day, she said: “I was lucky enough to go into treatment, so I met an amazing variety of people there who had been through all sorts of things.”

“It drives you crazy when you're forced to really confront yourself.” I'm actually very lucky. A lot of sober people say that. I think I'm very lucky that I was pushed to deal with this now.

“I was pushed to take apart any judgments I had about other people.” I pushed myself to tear myself apart and put everything back together so I could look at things a little differently.

“Even though it was pretty shitty, I'm honestly pretty happy that I got the chance to do things differently and actually look at situations more empathetically.”'
