Meals are now being delivered by air for the first time in Florida, where fast food chain Chick-fil-A last week launched a new system for delivering meals and drinks by…drones.
“We are in the early stages of testing drone delivery at a small number of Chick-fil-A restaurants,” Chick-fil-A spokeswoman Chelsea Lee told local newspaper The Tampa Bay Times, as reported by the New York Post. reported ” reported on Sunday.
Since last Monday, customers of the fast food chain who live within 1.2 miles of the Chick-Fil-A in Brandon Valrico, Central Florida, can have their order delivered from heaven.
However, according to the American newspaper, the company hopes to expand its territory to 2 miles – more than 3.2 km – soon.
In a video shared to its Instagram page last week, employees can be seen packing orders into a box attached to a drone outside a restaurant before it takes off on its flight.
When you arrive in front of the house, the order is placed in the air via a cable with a clip that releases the box as soon as it is on the floor.
“The most exciting thing in the world,” one customer shared while posting a video of her own meal delivered via drone, according to the NY Post.
If the company plans to expand this means of delivery, it also announced last May that it would move to other new technologies, including autonomous delivery vehicles, which, according to American media, were in the testing phase at certain locations.
