Aero Montreal CEO resigns

Aero Montréal CEO resigns

After partially retiring as CEO of Aéro Montreal two months ago, Suzanne Benoît, CEO of Aéro Montreal, finally announced her resignation yesterday as the organization has faced a recent spate of departures.

“After careful consideration, I have decided to retire on March 10th. […] I leave feeling accomplished,” said Ms. Benoît, who has served as CEO of Aéro Montréal since 2006, in a message to members of the organization.

In December, Suzanne Benoît handed over the management to a former vice president of Aéro Montréal, Mélanie Lussier, but retained the title of president.

“Ms. Benoît was already toying with the idea of retiring […] and with the arrival of Ms. Lussier, we truly recognized that her leadership skills would allow Suzanne to take the plunge,” Aéro Montréal Chairman of the Board, Steeve Lavoie, who is also Head of Aéro Montréal, told the Journal helicopter manufacturer Bell Textron Canada.

Mr. Lavoie also acknowledged that Aéro Montréal faced the departure of many employees in 2022.

A reinforcement company

“In the past year we have lost several people, often young people who have just arrived […]. The Executive Committee took care of it and we approached an outside company in August to help Ms Benoît recruit talent,” he said.

When asked if the former CEO’s leadership style might have played a role in these difficulties, Steeve Lavoie was puzzled.

“The increased workload and employee attrition, I think, is the redistribution of stress to individuals,” he said.

Mr Lavoie nevertheless assured that Suzanne Benoît had done nothing wrong. “Nothing,” he pounded.
