AEW Full Gear 2023 results MJF defends against Jay White; Two Championship Changes PRWrestling

MJF

AEW hosted the “Full Gear” event on Saturday evening in Los Angeles, California.

Zero Hour (Pre-Show)

Eddie Kingston defeated Jay Lethal (w/Sonjay Dutt, Satnam Singh, Jeff and Karen Jarrett) to retain the ROH World Title.

Claudio Castagnoli defeated Buddy Matthews

MJF & Samoa Joe defeated The Gunns (Austin & Colten) to retain the ROH Tag Team Titles. Adam Cole entered the fight just as the Guns had hit Joe.

After the match, Joe implied that MJF owed him and left while the Gunns attacked MJF, throwing a chair into the ring and injuring the AEW Champion’s ankle. Doctors examined MJF and brought him out on a stretcher. MJF pleaded with Cole as they loaded him into the ambulance not to let them take his world title away from him.

Full equipment

Adam Copeland, Sting and Darby Allin (with Ric Flair) defeated Christian Cage, Luchasaurus and Nick Wayne. Cage gave Flair a low blow from the outside. Copeland hit Luchasaurus with a spear while Allin hit a coffin drop for the win.

After the match, Allin grabbed the mic and pumped up the crowd even more for Sting’s final match in Los Angeles.

Tony Schiavone is on stage with referee Bryce Remsburg. White was angry about the AEW title and yelled that he was the champion before Schiavone told him to calm down. Schiavone said that unfortunately MJF is injured and will not be able to defend the title tonight, so the main event was canceled. Schiavone was about to hand White the title when Adam Cole came out and said he made a promise to his best friend. He spoke to Tony Khan and said it will be Jay White vs Adam Cole tonight.

Orange Cassidy (w/HOOK) defeated Jon Moxley (w/Wheeler Yuta) for the AEW International Title. Of course Moxley was bleeding. Cassidy fires several Orange Punches at you, followed by Beach Break for the pin.

The ageless Toni Storm (w/Luther) defeated Hikaru Shida to win the AEW Women’s Title after hitting him with a tray. Mariah May came out to give Storm flowers.

Ricky Starks and Big Bill defeated FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood), Kings of the Black Throne (Malakai Black and Brody King) and La Faccion Ingobernable (Rush and Dralistico with Preston Vance and Jose the Assistant) in a ladder match to retain the AEW Tag Team Titles.

Julia Hart defeated Kris Statlander and Skye Blue to win the TB titleS after stealing Statlander’s iron and beating Blue.

Tony Schiavone is in the ring and mentioned AEW’s latest blockbuster signing. Will Ospreay comes out to a standing ovation and officially signs his contract with AEW. Ospreay said he was happy to be part of the team, but first he said a little bad news that he’s not coming yet as he begs the crowd to finish him off with New Japan Pro Wrestling. Ospreay has asked Tony Khan to give his best, especially for Wembley Stadium as it will show everyone what elite really is.

Swerve Strickland (w/Prince Nana) defeated Hangman Adam Page in a Texas Death Match. One of the most violent matches in AEW history as these two gave it everything they had. Brian Cage appeared to attack Page before placing a table in the ring. Cage attempted a powerbomb, but Page drove the barbed wire into Cage’s face and hit him with several elbows. Nana jumped up and Page immediately grabbed Nana and hit a Dead Eye through the ring table. Strickland appeared behind Page and hit him in the back of the head with a concrete block. Strickland placed a chain around Page’s neck, literally hanging the executioner before releasing him, and Page was unable to respond to the 10 count.

Jericho and Omega defeat the Young Bucks after Omega defeated Matt. The Bucks looked upset and broke some things on the sideline.

In the main fight for the world title, Adam Cole (on crutches) and Jay White will compete. Just before the start an ambulance arrives and MJF comes out limping. He arrives at ringside and hugs Cole, leading to the original star fight:

In real stardom, MJF defended the AEW World Championship against Jay White. MJF was limping but was able to fight. At some point the Gunns intervene, but the referee takes them out. Cole was always on the outskirts supporting MJF. In the final moments, the referee falls in defeat, Cole gives the ring to MJF, but White gets him first. MJF hits him with a low blow and gets the ring. The Gunns come in and MJF eliminates them with fists in the ring, then does the same to White, giving him the win.
