AEW star Thunder Rosa questions whether WWE's decision to place “WWE NXT” star Ridge Holland in an injury zone is a smart move given his past.
Holland, who recently returned to “NXT,” defeated “NXT World Champion Ilja Dragunov” last week, injuring him in the process. The angle is reportedly part of a storyline involving Big E's injury at the hands of Holland last year on “WWE SmackDown.” Thunder Rosa questioned the storyline during her recent appearance on Busted Open as she felt it could label Holland as a poor worker.
“If you have to execute angles, if it's very close to reality… his opponent, of course, was the one who was in the ring when Big E got hurt, and he got hurt pretty badly, to the point where it was the end “Injury meant his career,” the AEW star began. “It got intense (at X) because people were calling him [Holland] all sorts of things, probably even death threats, who knows.
She feels such controversial injury angles could hurt a character's gimmick, especially for someone who has injured another star in the past. The AEW star added that when it comes to an angle, the two did a great job. But she hopes that Holland gets a lot of “reward” from this site because she is not happy about the nasty comments that have been directed at him.
“For me personally, there are certain things that…they have to pay off, and I think you have to be in the ring and sign it in blood,” she said. “When you play with fire with someone who already has a bad 'track record', things get difficult. If they label him an unsafe worker and then do this and it turns out to be true, what else are they going to do?”
