AEW Worlds End: What does the future hold for MJF? – Catch Newz

The story ended at AEW Worlds End 2023.

AEW presented its final PPV of 2023 from Long Island, with MJF defending his world title against Samoa Joe in the evening's main event. MJF wanted to win this match in front of his hometown fans and he had his great friend Adam Cole supporting him at ringside.

Unfortunately, Samoa Joe was able to beat him by submission when he stopped responding to the referee's calls. Joe celebrated his victory and then, surprisingly, the devil's group showed up in the ring! While MJF was protecting his friend Adam Cole, the lights went off and then back on and Adam Cole stood in front of the group!

Adam Cole thus revealed that he was the leader of the masked group: so he was the devil ! A group consisting of Roderick Strong, Matt Taven, Mike Bennett and Wardlow. The show ended with a clan celebration after an attack on MJF:

What does this storyline mean for MJF's future in AEW?

As mentioned on Catch-Newz, MJF's initial contract with AEW ends on January 1, 2024. Nevertheless, multiple sources revealed that he had already re-signed with AEW. Insiders also said that he did not negotiate with WWE and therefore signed straight back with AEW.

Following AEW Worlds Ends 2023, Fightful took stock of MJF's future and according to their information MJF is on indefinite leave of absence. MJF suffered some injuries after Full Gear 2023 as mentioned in our previous articles and he is still not healed.

Losing the title would be the ideal opportunity to give him a well-deserved break, but nothing is confirmed yet. The situation is worth watching as the former champion has some creative control and could shape his future as he wishes.
