Afghanistan earthquake death toll rises to 2,445

HERAT, Afghanistan, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) — The death toll from the earthquakes that struck western Afghanistan’s Herat province and its neighboring areas has risen to 2,445, Afghan authorities reported Sunday evening. Herat.

According to the China Seismological Network Center, two earthquakes measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale devastated Afghanistan on Saturday, the first occurring at around 11:10 a.m. local time (06:40 GMT).
