The artistic director and general director of the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde, Lorraine Pintal, will step down from her position at the helm of the institution in August 2024 after spending 32 years in the position.
The board of directors of the Montreal theater made the announcement on Thursday morning, emphasizing that her departure coincides with the completion of several projects led by Ms. Pintal, including the expansion of the theater.
Her departure is scheduled for August 30, although the artistic director has indicated that she will remain available until the end of 2024 to ensure a “harmonious and effective” transition.
“I will never forget this theater of unparalleled splendor in Quebec; the extraordinary creators I met there; the subscribers and viewers I grew up with for over thirty years; “The large family of the TNM, which still contributes to its development today,” emphasized Ms. Pintal in a press release.
As the first woman appointed to the helm of the Théâtre du Nouveau Monde, the board says she will be recognized for making the institution the premier French-language theater in America.
It was said that he would soon deal with the succession process and announce this publicly.
