After 700 days: the record period without snow in New York is over

About four centimeters of snow were measured in Manhattan's Central Park.

In New York and several other metropolises on the east coast of the USA, the longest period recorded so far without snow came to an end on Tuesday, after more than 700 days. According to meteorologists, for example, about four centimeters of fresh snow were measured in Central Park in Manhattan.

In the metropolises of Baltimore and Philadelphia, among others, it snowed measurably for the first time in 701 days – to the annoyance of some people whose trips to work were made difficult, and to the delight of others who went straight to the parks with sleds. However, as the day progresses, snow is expected to fall back to rain in many locations.

Many winters in recent years have seen a lot of snow in New York. Last winter, although a few flakes fell from the sky every now and then, the snow did not remain measurable. (APA/dpa)
