As more and more dogs accompany their owners on public transportation, other animals didn’t want to be left behind, like a deer and a chicken who decided to test transportation options in Toronto.
A chicken was seen wandering aboard a Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) subway train for the first time this week, according to a video shared on TikTok.
“We’ve seen some interesting animals on the TTC before… crabs, beavers, snakes, pigeons, but this may be the first time,” said Stuart Green, senior wildlife specialist. TTC statement to the Toronto Star.
“By moving freely, this creature is clearly violating our regulations,” he added.
In fact, as with Montreal transportation, only dogs on a leash or pets locked in a special container are allowed on Toronto’s buses and subways on weekends and at certain times during the week.
Toronto’s regional transit agency Metrolinx had to deal with another mishap Thursday afternoon when a deer was found under a train at Union Station, as seen in photos shared on X.
When employees attempted to retrieve it, the deer ultimately retreated on its own without being injured, causing only minor delays in train departures, according to Toronto media.
