Following this weekend’s talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv, Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer will visit Moscow tomorrow, April 11, to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin. Nehammer had already informed the Ukrainian President of his decision to go to Moscow. A journey that has caused some confusion in Zelensky’s entourage. As the picture agency reports, the Austrian chancellor is said to be “putting too much trust” in a meeting with the Russian president and is also wondering “what is the point of traveling after Putin has shown how brutal a war criminal is.” After visits to Bucha and Kyiv, Nehammer declared that the Russian offensive was “completely unacceptable” and emphasized that while Austria is “militarily neutral”, this has no influence “when it comes to mentioning the crimes and when it comes to going to go where injustice is actually happening.” Among the Europeans, Putin has so far only confronted French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz by telephone travels to Moscow in Ukraine.
