After all, Germany could now slow down the AI Law

Germany’s approval of the European “AI Law” to regulate artificial intelligence (AI) seems anything but certain. One point of contention is the requirements for providers of so-called basic models, which the FDP-led digital ministry considers too stringent, said Tobias Bacherle (Alliance 90/The Greens), member of the Bundestag and chairman of the digital committee. A spokeswoman for the Digital Ministry emphasized that the vote was still ongoing: “We are evaluating this very carefully.” The government wants to agree on a position by Friday. On this day, the law will be discussed in the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the European Union (EU), which prepares Council meetings.
