Digital influencer Carlinhos Maia, 31, lamented the impact his political stance had on his social media popularity. He claimed to have lost a significant number of followers after declaring his vote for Lula.
“200,000 people have stopped following me? I am sad but relieved at the same time. Let those who like me stay beyond my political opinions,” declared Lucas Guimarães’ husband tonight via Twitter.
After saying that he did not intend to comment on the elections so as not to risk upsetting his audience, Carlinhos last Thursday explained who he intended to vote for. “Please don’t let us down. I vote 13.”
This morning he said he was facing virtual attacks because of his political decision and even showed the printout of a woman’s message urging Carlinhos to get out of the country.
“The level of messages I received. People don’t curse me for anything. To those who follow me, don’t be like that. Opinions and differences are part of democracy and everyone’s free will,” mused the influencer.
200,000 people have unfollowed me? I’m sad but relieved at the same time that whoever likes me stays beyond my political opinion.
