In the Serbian capital of Belgrade, a party venue was destroyed on New Year’s Eve. Three people were arrested – interrogations will take place on Wednesday.
Indeed, countless people in Belgrade wanted to celebrate peacefully, but everything turned out differently: a party ship from the “Splav”, a festive mile known throughout Europe on the Sava River, sank in a completely surprising way. Shortly after midnight, masses of water seeped into the interior of the club – disco guests jumped onto tables and fled in panic. According to local media, the owner, director and manager of the company have already been arrested.
The disco owner is said to have known about the disco leak
According to local media, new details about the dramatic New Year celebrations in Belgrade surfaced on Tuesday. The organizers of the disco venue were arrested by local police – the owner was reportedly informed about security concerns an hour before the drama. The saucer ship moved deeper and deeper into the water and is said to have tested its balance in an unusual way.

It is said that many guests of the disco party finally made up the difference for the “fall” – as many as three times (!!!) more guests than allowed would have attended the party. The owner of the venue would have ignored the critical voices on the ground: “There is no need to worry” (in Serbian: “Nema potreba za brigom”), according to Serbian media, said the owner of the club.
First Hearings on Wednesday
The fights would also have occurred inside the disco. However, it was denied that there were riots due to water leaks. The three arrested will spend 48 hours in custody before having to testify in court on the serious allegations for the first time on Wednesday.
Belgrade Mayor Aleksandar Šapić, meanwhile, calls for stricter criteria when building river projects – in recent years, entire settlements have been built near the river named “Beograd on the Water” (Serbian: “Beograd na vodi”).
