Ana Furtado, 49, took to social media to celebrate the end of her treatment for breast cancer, which she was diagnosed with in 2018. The presenter published a video (see below) in which she appears together with her husband, director Boninho, taking the last dose of medication.
“I made it a point to end this cycle with my love, best friend and amazing partner,” she wrote in the caption. “Last [comprimido de] Tamoxifen! He finished it! See you never again!”
Several followers, many of them famous, left messages to join in the celebration. “What a feeling, thank you for all the times you gave me a word of encouragement, you are a warrior,” wrote singer Preta Gil, who also suffers from cancer hers in the intestines.
Ana made her treatment public in May 2018, shortly after undergoing surgery to remove the tumor in her breast in April of that year. At the time, she said she discovered the disease in its early stages. Since then, the presenter has spoken openly about the different phases of her treatment, with the aim of encouraging her followers to introspect.
Next week she is releasing the book “Até Nunca Mais,” in which she talks about her experiences with the disease. Autograph sessions will take place on Monday (2) in São Paulo (at Livraria da Travessa in Shopping Iguatemi) and on Wednesday (4) in Rio (at Livraria Argumento in Leblon, in the South Zone).
“It was 5 years of a journey that was not easy, but possible. A journey full of desires, fears, victories, but above all a lot of resilience, resistance and selfknowledge,” she commented on social media. “Sharing this experience and being able to show that no one is alone on this journey is the most important thing. If my testimony helps even one person, it will all be worth it.”
