After his escape: A murderer is near the prison

An inmate convicted of murder was seen near the prison, hours after he escaped from a Pennsylvania detention center, according to local authorities.

According to the New York Post, a surveillance camera from a home less than four kilometers from the prison allowed Danelo Cavalcante to be seen on Saturday. The 34-year-old managed to escape from the prison last Thursday.

The prison is about 30 miles west of Philadelphia.

Chester County Prosecutor Deb Ryan described Cavalcante as “an extremely dangerous man.”

Danelo Cavalcante, a short man standing 5 feet 10 inches tall, was convicted of first-degree murder on Aug. 16 for killing his former girlfriend in 2021. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole conditions.

At a press conference, Deb Ryan called for “residents in the Pocopson Township area to stay indoors.”

Authorities are offering a $10,000 reward for the capture of Danelo Cavalcante.
