Actor João Guilherme used Christmas Eve to show the peaceful atmosphere with the singer. On his Instagram profile he shared a video of his sisterinlaw Virgínia in which his father sang alongside Pedro Leonardo, Monyque and Zé Felipe.
“Jéssica, Matheus and João Guilherme were missing,” the influencer wrote in the story, recalling Leonardo’s other children who were absent from the party in Goiânia. The trio accompanied their father in the interpretation of the song “This night was wonderful”, which was created during the partnership between the Sertanejo and Leandro, who died in 1998.
“Ai, ai, I love this climate,” wrote João, 20, commenting on the performance.
The actor reinforces the friendly tone of his father, who has been soothing about the political differences that led to an exchange of barbs within the family during October’s election. Leonardo told journalist Leo Dias that “it has nothing to do with the ideologies of his 18yearold son” and praised his way of being:
I support the right things he does, if he does the wrong things I will never support him or anyone else. I think João Guilherme is very sincere, I think he says what he thinks, he’s a damn good boy. They asked if there was anyone who looks a bit like me, he’s kind of muzzled, kind of talkative and seems a bit like me.”
remember the controversy
João Guilherme, a supporter of Presidentelect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), said he was sad and disgusted when his father declared his support for reelection candidate Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
Taking to Twitter, the artist’s son released a lengthy burst, explaining his father was blind and regretting that his “false manifestation” could have a huge impact with fans.
Im sad today. I know well my father’s influence, he’s a giant, loved by so many? But he’s playing for the wrong team and he’s blind. With all the recent scandals surrounding the current representative, it disgusts me to see someone so important to me express his support in this way. It’s so ignorant I don’t even know.
“Is it like I don’t have my two older sisters who were already 14, 15 years old? Or my nieces. As if all the deaths related to the government’s disregard for science and vaccination were just delirium,” he concluded.
In the comments, João Guilherme’s fans also expressed their disappointment after seeing his father defend the PL candidate’s reelection.
“I love your dad so much but I’m disappointed,” wrote one follower. “I’m glad you didn’t get infected,” commented another netizen. “We are all sad for you,” explained a third fan.
Dissatisfied with her stepson’s statements, Leonardo’s wife Poliana came forward in her husband’s defense.
“How that upsets me! The point we’ve reached! João Guilherme, please respect your father and his decision (free will),” she began, tagging her stepson in a message published on her Instagram profile stories.
“We have always treated you very lovingly. He has fulfilled his obligations as a father. He paid you pension until you were 18, correct, travel and everything you need journalist.
“He’s a good man, dear and loved, and he doesn’t deserve to go through this. Reconsider your attitude! A fatherson relationship should be greater than anything else in this world. Only those without a father who know how to appreciate them That’s a shame!” concluded the message, which sparked a polarized battle between supporters of both sides on social media.
