“La Voix, it gave me a good pat on the back to get started,” shared the Quebec singer. “It was here that I could really gain confidence and get going with the compositions I had and the news that was coming in during my experience,” she added.

Two years after her departure during the first live, she released her first EP, Prime Time, a first project with her creative accomplice in recent years, guitarist and director Dominique Plante. Her defined R&B style, combining melodies by Frank Ocean and Solange Knowles, is very evident in this project. The full length album Foward will be released two years later in October 2019 to critical acclaim.

The pandemic, a turning point to a new creative path

Even if his album was well received, with the arrival of the pandemic in Quebec five months later and the consequent closure of performance halls, it could not have the usual scope of a musical project.

“It sure was weird timing,” she admits. All the festivals have been put on hold a bit but during the pandemic I did a collaboration with rapper David Campana who is really an interesting artist. After that I had a collaboration with the jazz band Foreign Diplomats and in 2022 I released a collaboration with Millimetrik, Apoca-lips en el desierto, a song for which I composed lyrics and melody and a few months later I was able to do the Festival d’été de Québec with him,” said the musician, who hasn’t really been idle in recent years.

She also enjoyed working with Millimetrik so much that she will continue working with him in 2023. “He sent me two more beats that will appear in his next project. I wrote and recorded the whole thing a few months ago. As the project is set to be released in multiple waves, a first collaboration is set to be released at the end of the summer and the second in October. I’ve also worked with another Quebec group, Miles Clayton, in a completely different register, more folk, whose album is also due out in the fall. I can’t wait for people to discover these things,” she said.

Are there any solo projects in sight? “Of course I’ve written stuff for myself before, but right now my creative instincts are much more collaborating. I’d love to release the solo stuff but I haven’t found the vehicle to release all of this yet, I’m following my instincts,” she shared.
