Marjo sang “We don’t tame wildcats” and this maxim fits well to describe Rémi Basque, semi-finalist in the second season of “La Voix”, who retired from the spotlight after his TV appearance, only to better reappear.

“It’s boring to say, but La Voix showed me what I like least about this job,” he revealed in an interview with the agency QMI. “My competing friends ran around all the starts, I didn’t want to know about that, it was way too narrow. I can’t say it hasn’t given me great show opportunities, but I prefer to have all my freedom.”
No question of changing his ways, the Tracadie-Sheila, New Brunswick native first returned to play in the Metro and then began working on his original material, primarily in the In. A first album, 1984, which he signed with his stage name Ray Marcianno, was released in March 2016.
“Ray that’s my nickname all my friends call me that and Marcianno I took it when we made our Facebook profiles a few years ago and I was watching ‘Raging Bull’ with ‘Rocky Marciano’ and the name is remained.
But it was really his time at the Festival international de la chanson de Granby in 2019 where he really saw the potential of his songs. “With my trip to the semifinals, my songs got played on satellite radio,” he shared.

In addition to working on his solo material, Rémi has been singing with the French-language punk band Barnak for the past three years, a genre not very present in Quebec. “We wanted to offer good material in French to people who will compete with all American groups.” The first clip of the training. “1999” will be released on Friday.
Rémi is also collaborating on the next album by North Shore folk singer Ema Landry. “We’ve been working together since La Voix, she auditioned too, but she wasn’t picked by any coach, but we’ve really hit it off since the adventure and work well together because of our completely opposite characters,” he said.
