It's official that this iconic Nintendo franchise is getting the right to its own theme park, and it promises to be big.
A few days ago, the Pokémon Company announced the creation of PokéPark Kantoa huge Japanese amusement center dedicated to our favorite little monsters. It is located in Yomiuriland Park in Tokyo and is said to be permanent, unlike 2021's Pokémon Wonder. We still don't know the purpose of the project, although the announcement published in the Japan Times promises big things.
We will create a space where Pokémon fans from around the world can come together in this nature-rich region, discover Pokémon and have fun together, across national, regional and language barriers.
It's true that fans are eagerly waiting for a Pokémon theme park worthy of the name, especially when Disneyland and its competitors are starting to show their age. However, as previously mentioned, this isn't the first IRL Pokémon experience to see the light of day. In 2021, the Pokémon Company had already formalized a theme park around the license: Pokémon Wonder – which has nothing to do with Super Mario Wonder. This is a huge area 4,500 m² in the middle of a large forest that has been preserved for 20 years. Among other things, the park facilitated the promotion of Legend Arceus, which was released a year later. So it was a completely different approach than today, whether rightly or wrongly. However, that isThe park was not permanent and could be visited from July 17, 2021 to April 3, 2022 still in the center of Yomiuriland.

Pokémon: First Nintendo license in the spotlight?
It's not just Pokémon that have gotten their own IRL area, as the first Mario theme park saw the light of day a few years ago. After several complications due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was finally inaugurated on March 18, 2021. It is located at Universal Studios, Super Nintendo World presents a huge area dedicated to our favorite plumber. The ambition of the park's creators was enormous and the budget corresponded to the size of the idea. More than 310 million euros were spent on this project, 25% more than on the Harry Potter Park on the same site. After that, the idea of a permanent park based around the Pokémon license naturally makes your mouth water. However, the final project is still unclear, but the idea is already exciting the community, and rightly so.
