Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya returned to Mumbai after attending the 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival. The mother-daughter duo all smiled as they made their way to Mumbai Airport. Aaradhya Bachchan, who has been accompanying her mother to the film festival for years, greeted the paparazzi with folded hands and said “Namaste” while flashbulbs went off. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan walked the red carpet at the screening of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny in Cannes.
During an interaction with Anupama Chopra’s Film Companion in Cannes, Aishwarya was asked about Aaradhya’s experience at the festival, to which the actress replied, “Isn’t that a question you should answer? At some point in her life, I… I guess she will. And then we will know what really takes her away. It’s really about just being together, it feels familiar to her, she knows everyone here, it’s really like meeting up with friends and coming back here to Cannes, it’s an experience she likes so much is familiar. He (Aaradhya) is very similar to me in the sense that we are human. That’s where it starts. She loves the piece, she loves the atmosphere. I’m sure she understands the fact that this really is a film festival. It’s really about the world of cinema.
Abhishek and Aishwarya, co-stars from Umrao Jaan, Guru, Kuch Naa Kaho and Raavan, among others, married on April 20, 2007. The couple welcomed their daughter Aaradhya in 2011.
As for work, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was last seen in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 2 alongside Trisha, Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Sobhita Dhulipala and Aishwarya Lekshmi.
