The mercenary with the mouth can speak again.

After a four-month hiatus due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, Deadpool 3 will return to production before Thanksgiving, a source close to production has confirmed to Variety.

The Marvel Studios project reunites Ryan Reynolds with his Free Guy and The Adam Project director Shawn Levy as well as actor Hugh Jackman, who will reprise his role as Wolverine for the tenth time. (Reynolds originated the role of Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, in 2009’s “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and then revived the character in 2016’s “Deadpool.”)

The project is one of the most high-profile films whose filming had to be halted due to the strike, putting its scheduled release on May 3, 2024 in question. (Reynolds posted on social media on November 9th that the film “Summer 2024” will be released.)

Deadpool 3 is also the first Marvel production to continue a franchise created by 20th Century Fox before the Walt Disney Company acquired the studio in 2019. Several stars from the previous two films – including Morean Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni and Rob Delaney – are expected to return, and they will be joined by newcomers Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen.

To add even more multiverse intrigue to the mix, Jennifer Garner will reprise her role as Elektra, the superhero role she first played in 2003’s Daredevil and the 2005 spinoff Elektra.

Two other Marvel Studios titles – the Disney+ series “Daredevil: Born Again” starring Charlie Cox and “Wonder Man” starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II – have also halted production due to the actors’ strike, but it is unclear when filming will resume be included. Daredevil recently underwent a creative overhaul, with a new showrunner and directors stepping in to reimagine the show.
